McLemore Avenue
The Hub Tones
7:00 PM - 12:00 AM
$3 Cover
McLemore Avenue, inspired by instrumental groups like Booker T. & the MGs, the Meters, and Medeski, Martin & Wood--blends elements of southern soul, groove, and jazz with an original sound that is unique to Austin, Texas. These guys have a great swirling Hammond organ/guitar instrumental sound that fills the room with an infectious, funky groove. This band has it...period. If Stax were to reopen their studio, this group could fill Booker T. & the MG's shoes. Then Freddie Hubbard, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock serve as inspiration to Austin's newest Jazz project, The Hub-Tones. The Hub Tones fuse elements of jazz, funk, and soulful instrumental grooves.
